In 1927, its name was changed into National Jinan University.
In June 1996, it became one of key universities in the state Project 211.
In June 2015, it was selected as a key high-level universities of Guangdong province.

Guangzhou Biopharmaceutical R&D Center of JNU, established in 1999, is a wholly-owned institutional unit of Jinan University, specializing in the research of genetic engineering drugs, biological materials, and bioactive peptide raw materials and conversion of the achievements. We have equipped with molecular biology laboratory, pilot scale test laboratory, pharmaceutical preparation laboratory, biological cosmetics laboratory and efficacy testing laboratory.
